Wolfram "Duke" Herzog

Wolfram B. “Duke” Herzog, 91 of Gaylord, went home to be with the Lord Monday, January 1, 2024. Born March 2, 1932, in Obersdorf, Germany, he was the son of Kurt and Kathe (Franke) Herzog.

On June 10, 1978, in Birmingham, he married the love of his life, Barbara. For many years, he worked at General Motors as an Engineer. Upon retirement, they moved to Gaylord where they quickly became involved at the Gaylord E-Free Church. Duke loved spending time in nature, cross country skiing and spending time with his three sons.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara of 45 years; his son, Dirk (Kathy) Herzog of California; three grandchildren, John, Shannon and Garret; his sister, Kate Herzog of Germany; his former wife, Ursula Fachnie and many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Frank Herzog and Thomas Herzog; 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

A memorial gathering will take place in the spring, where his remains will be buried at Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gaylord E-Free Church, 1649 M-32, Gaylord, MI 49735.
