Willis L. Peters

Willis Lee “Bill” Peters, 90 of Alanson, passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility in Bellaire. Born in Homer, MI on July 28, 1926, he was the son of Henry and Martha (Isham) Peters.

On November 13, 1946 he married Helen Vandyke in Angola, IN.  Bill and Helen lived many years in Charlevoix where they raised their family.  They were longtime owners of Hooker’s Cleaners. Bill was an avid hunter, fisherman and a big Detroit Tigers fan. Upon retirement, Bill and Helen spent many years living in Ponshewaing and loved spending time on the lake.

He is survived by his children, Lorraine (Terry Tappy) Day of Madison, WI, Andrew (Sharon) Peters of Petoskey, Janet (Ed) Boettcher of Elk Rapids, Valerie Harris of Lander, WY, Susan (Lee) Barta of Charlevoix and Jeffrey (Kathleen) Peters of Orlando, FL; 15 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, sisters and wife, Helen.

Visitation will be begin at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, July 29, 2017 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Charlevoix where a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 A.M.  Bill and Helen will be interred at St. Mary Cemetery in Charlevoix immediately following the service.

Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to St. Mary Catholic Church in Charlevoix or to St. Clements Church in Pellston.  Arrangements are by Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Gaylord.  Please share your memories and personal messages with the family at www.gaylordfuneralhome.com
