William E. Bussard

William E. Bussard, 93 of Harbor Springs, passed away at home on Tuesday, October 25, 2016.

Born in St. Louis, MO on February 2, 1923, Bill was the son of Don and Margery (Baldwin) Bussard.

On September 16, 1942 he married the love of his life, Donita Smith.

He was a decorated veteran, serving in the U.S. Army during World War II.  Bill served in North Africa, Sicily, England, France and Germany.

From 1945 until his retirement in 1979, Bill owned Bussard Appliance Parts in Pontiac.  He and Donita had lived in Harbor Springs since retiring.

Bill was an avid woodworker and craftsman.  He also enjoyed playing golf and working in the yard.

He is survived by Donita, his wife of 74 years; their children, Bonnie (Norbe Puroll) Bussard of Gaylord and Gary Bussard of Harbor Springs; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, George and Jim.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Sunday, November 13, 2016 at Zion United Church of Christ, 6590 Maple River Road (corner of US 31), Brutus, MI  49716, with Pastor Roger Fate officiating.  Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Harbor Springs.  Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to the Salvation Army in Petoskey.
