William J. Moran, 79 of Gaylord, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Tendercare Gaylord. Born on July 24, 1935 in Ferndale, Bill was the son of Harley and Loris (Hartel) Moran.
Bill worked for many years as a truck driver transporting automobiles. He was a member of Teamsters Local #299. In retirement, after moving to Gaylord he enjoyed working part time at Golden Auto Electric and Wilber Automotive Supply.
Bill enjoyed classic cars and particularly his 1971 Chevy Nova. He loved animals, especially his dogs, Penny and Riley.
Surviving are his wife, Jeanette, whom he married on September 27, 1994; his children, Russell (Julie) Moran of Madison Heights and Carey (Aaron) Majewski of Sterling Heights; his step children, Steven (Doris) Platz of Cadillac, T.J. Platz of Holt, Peter (Jennifer) Winnick of Grand Rapids and Brenda Quinn of Aberdeen, WA; 21 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and brothers, Don (Evelyn) Moran of Houghton Lake, Jim (Sherry) Moran of Fowlerville and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his extended family, Jim (Laurie) Cook and Michael Cook all of Gaylord. Bill was preceded in death by a son, Ric Moran, daughter-in-law Janice Moran and a granddaughter, Amanda.
Bill’s family will remember him with a private family gathering later at Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens in Novi. Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to the family or to the Otsego County Animal Shelter.
