Wilbur Charles Volkening

Wilbur Volkening, 90 of Gaylord passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at Hiland Cottage in Petoskey.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ruth (Hay) Volkening; son, Charles (Helene) Volkening; granddaughter, Christie (Greg) Chiles and great grandsons, Andrew, Kyle and Lucas. Also surviving are his brother and sister in law, Robert (Elva) Petro and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many cousins.

Wilbur was preceded in death by his parents, William and Fern Volkening; a daughter, Mary Volkening; grandchildren Sandra and Charles; brothers, William (Rose) Volkening and Burt (Carol) Volkening; brothers and sisters in law, Ralph and Ellen Hay, Bill and Beth Hamlin and nephews, Jim Hay and Steve Hay.

Wilbur was a lifelong member of the NRA, the Buckley Old Engine Club and the Polish Festival threshing crew.

At Wilbur’s request, a small family memorial will be held. The family thanks you for all your thoughts and prayers.
