Virginia L. Kauffmann

Virginia Louise Kauffmann, 85 of Gaylord, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at Medilodge of Gaylord.

Born in Lansing on June 18, 1933, Virginia was the daughter of Robert and Theresa (Trerice) Gaylord.

Virginia grew up in Lansing where she married Erich H. Kauffmann on October 1, 1955.  She worked for the State of Michigan as a secretary in the Department of Education until 1973 when she moved to Gaylord.  A position had become available in the Department of Natural Resources office and with a lifelong interest in conservation, the position was one she welcomed.  She worked there until retiring in 1995.

Virginia was an animal lover and she especially loved cats.  She also enjoyed traveling and reading.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her former husband and a half brother, Robert Gaylord Jr.  Surviving are daughters, Irene S. Kauffmann and Y. Sheila Kauffmann both of Gaylord; grandchildren, Lisa M Pifer and Allison L. Holley both of Gaylord; and great grandchildren, Sierra, Ethan, Donovan and Aiden.

A memorial service will be held in the spring at Fairview Cemetery in Gaylord.  Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to the Otsego County Animal Shelter.
