Vincent John Pope, 62 of Alanson, passed away peacefully at home, on Sunday, March 19, 2023, with his family by his side.
Born on April 30, 1960 in Muskegon, Michigan, he was the son of Vincent A. and Fannable R. (Ramsby) Pope.
Vince graduated from Petoskey High School in 1978, then continued on to college at Michigan Tech University and West Shore Community College, where he received an associates degree in diesel mechanics.
On December 31, 1987 he was married in Petoskey to his wife of more than 35 years, the former Alice A. Enbody.
Vince worked for 35 years as a glazer at Petoskey Glass and also for a few years at Colwell Wangeman Construction.
In his spare time he enjoyed riding motorcycles, boating and waterskiing, and working outside on his tractor. Vince loved spending time in his pole barn, working on motors and woodworking, and he enjoyed spending hours cutting wood. In his younger years, he also enjoyed hunting and fishing. His family and longtime friends will remember the good times they spent together.
Vince is survived by his wife, Alice; his daughter, Katrina (Patrick) Genter of Ludington; grandchildren, Zachary, Ayden, Mayce, and Jackson Genter; sisters, Susan Bondeson of Lansing, and Julie (Kurt) Edenburn of Manistee; a brother-in-law, John Engwall of Manistee; several nieces and nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; and his beloved dog, Joey, who rarely left his side.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Fannable Pope, his father-in-law, Dale Enbody and mother-in-law, Allene Niswander Case; a sister, Mary Jo Engwall; a brother-in-law, Gary Bonderson; and a niece, Samantha Edenburn.
A memorial gathering will be held in the coming months. Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to Hospice of Michigan.
