Vincent R. Hurley, 75 of Guthrie Lakes and formerly of Allen Park, passed away Friday, April 22, 2016 at Tendercare Gaylord.  He was survived for one week by his wife, Judy, who passed away April 29, 2016.

Vince was born on April 8, 1941 in Detroit, the son of Vincent Gerard and Mary Grace (Goyette) Hurley.

A graduate of Holy Redeemer High School in Detroit, Vince also attended Wayne State University.  He served briefly in the U.S. Navy before being transferred to the Navy Reserves.

In 1967 Vince joined the Allen Park Fire Department where he was a firefighter for 27 years, retiring as a captain in 1994.  On March 8, 1969, Vince married Judith E. James.  They lived in Allen Park for many years, retiring to Guthrie Lakes, where his family had property since the early 1970's.

Vince was a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.  Since retiring to Guthrie Lakes he had been a parishioner at St. Mary Cathedral in Gaylord.  He was also a member of the Elks Lodge #2194 in Allen Park. Vince was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman, and a member of the Northland Sportsmen’s Club.

He is survived by his daughter, Janice L. Chan of South El Monte, CA; his mother, Mary Grace Hurley of Allen Park; sisters, Mary Anne Hurley of Woodhaven, Ellen (David) Sekerak of Dearborn Heights and Patricia (Lawrence) Gates of Lincoln Park; and grandchildren, Richard Papp, Samantha Turner, Jolenne Hurley and Art Hurley.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, hunting buddies, golfing buddies and many other friends.  Vince was preceded in death by his father and by his son, Richard W. Hurley.

Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, May 16, 2016 at 11:00 AM from St. Mary Cathedral in Gaylord with Father Tyler Bischoff officiating. The family will visit with friends beginning at 10:00 AM until the time of services.
