Veronica Therese Malak, 87, of Elmira, Michigan and formerly of Eustis, Florida passed peacefully into Eternal Life on Thursday, November 1, 2012 at home surrounded by her family. Born in Detroit, Michigan on December 24, 1924, Veronica was the daughter of John and Mary (Dunny) Papcun.
On July 19, 1947 in Detroit, Veronica was united in marriage to Norbert A. Malak. She was devoted and loving to her husband and children, as she was also, to the Catholic Church. She was a member of the Sodality of Our Lady and the Ladies Altar Society. Veronica loved to work outside in her garden and flower beds, as well as watching the many colorful birds, especially hummingbirds, that visited with her. An avid baseball and hockey fan, Veronica rarely missed watching a Detroit Tigers or Red Wings game.
In 1972, Veronica was preceded in death by her husband, Norbert. She is survived by her children, Marilyn (Gary) Perrine of Ypsilanti, Gary (Judy) Malak of Elmira, Gregory Malak of Westminster, Ca, James Malak of Eustis, Fl and adopted son Robert Jodoin Jr of Westminster, Ca. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Paul (Leslie) Perrine, Keith (Laura) Perrine, David (Jamie) Perrine, Christina Perrine, Carolyn (Donovan) Dominguez, Caitlin (Michael) Bowlin, Rebecca Malak, David Malak and step-grandchildren Michael Doll and Samantha Arnott; 8 great grandchildren, Jenna, Lynnea, Steven, Amanda, Sarah, Katelyn, Isabel and Hannah Perrine. One of 10 children, Veronica is survived by one sister, Marcella Kovalcik and preceded in death by brothers Albert, John, Michael, Edward and Joseph and sisters, Mary, Helene and Margaret.
A Mass, celebrating the life of Veronica, will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, November, 7, 2012 at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St, Fenton, MI 48430 with visitation at the church beginning at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 25800 10 Mile Rd, Southfield, MI 49734.
Visitation in Gaylord at Gaylord Funeral & Cremation Service, 850 N. Center Ave., will be held from 5:00-7:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 4, 2012.
