Velma Marie Johnson

Velma Marie Johnson, 50 of Gaylord, passed away at home on Tuesday, May 30, 2017.

Born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Velma was the daughter of George and Elta (Page) Johnson.  She had also lived in Grand Rapids and Petoskey before moving to Gaylord.

Velma operated her own home health care business.  An avid gardener, she also enjoyed baking, all types of crafts and any opportunity to help others.  She attended Crosspoint Church in Gaylord.

Surviving are her daughters, Sarah (Nathan) Sundelius of Gaylord and Shelly (Ali) Raza of Plymouth, WI; grandchildren, Ethan, Aliyah, William, Adelyn, Valerie, Lucas and Ruby; her father, George Johnson; her step father, Darrell Barkeim; her sister, Susan Lane; brothers, John (Janice) Slomanski, Robert (Jammi) Slomanski and Michael Slomanski; and several nieces and nephews.

Velma’s family will remember her with a private gathering in Gaylord and at a memorial service later in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
