Vance D. Morgan, 76 of Cheboygan, Michigan, passed away at home with the care of his loving wife, Genevieve Morgan, and family on May 28, 2023.
Vance was born in Utica, Michigan, on August 5,1946, to Donald and Dorothy (Née) Rinke Morgan. Vance joined the U.S. Army in 1966 during the Vietnam era, however, served in Germany as a Pvt. F1, A sharpshooter (rifle). He was honored with a National Defense service medal! Being honorably discharged from the United States Army, Vance returned home to Utica, Michigan, where he went to Barber school and became a barber. He opened his barber shop in the basement of the Utica Hotel, owned by his grandmother, Louisa Rinke, (née) DesGrandchamp. After a few years of barbering Vance decided to become a broker and bought his own gravel train! Trucking became his life, working in the Mount Clemens, Utica, Oxford, and Detroit areas for many years. Vance worked for Gerry Horgan trucking most of his trucking years, until he met his wife-to-be, Genevieve Morgan (Née) Grondin, whom he married in 1978, in Oxford, MI. Vance & Gennie never had children of their own but loved and cared for many nieces and nephews, including greats and great greats!
In 1985, Vance & Gennie moved to Northern Michigan. Living in the north, they spent many years boating, golfing, and being a car buff. Vance enjoyed his life with extended family and friends living his 38 years with his loving wife in Cheboygan Michigan. Vance drove semi- truck for the last 24 years of his career for Roberts Boring & Manufacturing of Gaylord Michigan, driving many trips for Perfecto into Piqua Ohio, where he made many lifelong friends!
Vance’s last 14 years of retirement were living in the beautiful area of Cordwood Point watching the ships pass by on Lake Huron. Vance is survived by his wife of 45 years, Genevieve Morgan.
