Tommie R. Crum, 78 of Wolverine, passed away at home on Saturday, July 17, 2021.
Born in Thorntown, Indiana on March 26, 1943, he was the son of Charles and Irene (Taylor) Crum.
After graduating from high school, Tommie served in the U.S. Navy, serving honorably from 1960-1964.
In Indiana, he worked for the Laborers Union until later moving to Michigan where he worked for many years in the tool crib at Georgia Pacific in Gaylord.
As a proud veteran, he was a longtime member of the American Legion in Indiana and Post #122 in Wolverine, where he was a past commander.
His family and friends will remember his love of hunting, fishing and auto racing. Also a well known mushroom hunter, he had his favorite spots whose location he kept secret. He’ll also be remembered as the guy who could fix anything. If it couldn’t be fixed, it was time to throw it away.
Tommie is survived by his loving wife, Sharleen. They were married in Mackinaw City on December 27, 1979.
Also surviving are his children, Brian Crum of Indiana, Larry (Lisa) Green Jr. of Freeport and Rob Green of Charlotte; three grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sisters, Carolyn Gillikin of Thorntown, IN and Judy (Pete) Saunders of Avon, IN; a sister-in-law, Helene Crum of Indiana; brothers, Joe Crum and Dale (Shirley) Crum of Thorntown, IN; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and seven brothers and sisters.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 Noon Thursday, July 22, 2021 at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service where visitation will begin at 11:00 AM until the time of services.
