Theodore J. "Ted" Jose

Theodore J. “Ted” Jose, 40 of Vanderbilt, passed away at Munson Healthcare Otsego Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, April 13, 2022.

Born in Gaylord on December 21, 1981, he was the son of Philip and Ruth (Papenfus) Jose.  He was preceded in death by his dad on April 19, 2015.

On August 17, 2002, Ted was married to Kendrea M. Spicer at Calvary Baptist Church in Grayling.  Their family grew to include three children, Jordan, Kialee and Miyah.

Ted worked for several years as a roustabout in the gas and oil fields of Gaylord, Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky.  Later he worked at LexaMar in Boyne City and Petoskey Plastics in Petoskey.

Ted loved his family; spending time with them brought him happiness.  He also enjoyed almost anything outdoors; he could often be found hunting, fishing, kayaking, snowmobiling or riding 4-wheelers and motorcycles.  He loved camping, which was a frequent family activity.  Ted’s smile and contagious personality had a way of putting smiles on the faces of those around him.

Ted is survived by Kendrea, his wife of almost 20 years and his children, Jordan, Kialee and Miyah all from Vanderbilt; his mom, Ruth Jose of Gaylord; brothers, Tom Jose of San Antonio, TX, Tim Jose of Gaylord and Terry (Nancy) Jose of Berlin, PA; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lenville and Judy Spicer of Lewiston; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Charlotte Scott of Lewiston, Bradley Spicer of Johannesburg, Joshua Spicer of Ossineke, James Spicer of Garden City and Burton Spicer of Edinburg, TX; and several nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by his many friends. 

The family will visit with friends from 3:00-7:00 PM Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service where funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, April 20, 2022.  Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to his family.
