Thelma Louise Parkman, 74 of Vanderbilt, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Otsego Memorial Hospital in Gaylord.

Born on September 2, 1942 in Cheboygan, Thelma was the daughter of Thomas and Neva (Pemberton) Sackrider.  When she was young the family moved to Zilwaukee.  She attended Arthur Hill High School.

Thelma’s family had property in Wolverine and after her first husband’s death she moved there in the 1970’s.  In the 1980’s she moved to Vanderbilt.

Thelma’s faith was an important part of her life.  She was an active member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Vanderbilt where she was a Eucharistic Minister.

She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Wolverine, the Red Hat Society in Vanderbilt and TOPS Gaylord Chapter where she was chapter president.

Thelma was preceded in death by two husbands, Hershel Parkman in 1975 and Robert Odykirk in 2003.  She was also preceded in death by sons, Thomas Leroy Parkman in 1969 and Terry Lee Parkman in 1974; her father, Thomas Sackrider in 1987; a sister, Sally Riethmeier in 2006 and her brother-in-law, James Colpean in 2014.

Surviving are her daughters, Debbie Parkman and Jody Parkman both of Pass Christian, MS; grandchildren, Lacy (Scott) Rogers of Byram, MS, Tyler (Megan Clear) Parkman of Vanderbilt and Tory LaRiviere of Pass Christian, MS; great grandchildren, Alissa, Dakota, Trey and Freya “Bell”; her mother, Neva Sackrider of Wolverine; sisters, Grace Colpean of Wolverine and Rose (Rich) Henderson of Carollton; a brother-in-law, James Riethmeier of Wolverine; and many nieces and nephews including her special niece, Angela Salo.  The family wants to offer a special thank you to her cousin, Larry Sackrider for his care as well as Rita Bunker and her entire family for their friendship and care.

The family will visit with friends from 2:00-8:00 PM Sunday, May 14, 2017 at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service where the Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 2:00 PM Monday, May 15, 2017 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Vanderbilt.  Interment will follow at Silver Lake Cemetery in Wolverine.
