Suzanne Marie "Sue" Sides

Suzanne Marie Sides, 65 of Gaylord, passed away Friday, February 2, 2024, at McLaren Northern Michigan in Petoskey.

Born on June 2, 1958, in Gaylord, she was the daughter of Richard and Dorothy (Francis) Nowak.  Sue grew up in Gaylord and was a 1976 graduate of St. Mary’s High School.

On August 21, 1980, Sue and Keith Sides were married in Flint.  They lived their life in Gaylord, where they worked together as the owners of Sure Stop Auto and Truck from 1989 until selling the business in 2018.  Not one to retire and sit still, Sue took a job with Gaylord Community Schools, working in food service at Gaylord High School until recently.  

In her spare time, she enjoyed tending to the many flowers around their home and feeding her many hummingbirds.  She and Keith have raised their grandson, Caden, from a young age, and have both been a constant presence and great supporters of his wrestling and football activities at Gaylord Community Schools.

Sue is survived by Keith, her husband of 43 years; a daughter, Amy (Joe) Miller; and grandchildren, Caden Sides and Ava Miller.   She was preceded in death by a son, Benjamin Sides; her parents, Richard and Dorothy Nowak; and brothers, Patrick and Kenneth Nowak.
