Susan H. March, 89 of Gaylord, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Aspen Ridge Retirement Village.

Born in Detroit on March 30, 1927, Susan was the daughter of Charles and Wilhelmina (Hendricks) Werksma.

She grew up in Lincoln Park.  Married to Dr. Walter R. March in 1955, they built a home in Dearborn Heights where they raised their family.  After Walter’s death in 1975, she continued to live in Dearborn Heights before moving to her Michaywe home in 1997.

Susan enjoyed being active.  She enjoyed playing golf, tennis and skiing, playing Bridge, gardening, travel and shopping.  She had been a member of the Thunderbirds Ski Club in Detroit and later a volunteer at Otsego Memorial Hospital in Gaylord, where she also attended the Gaylord First Presbyterian Church.

Susan is survived by her children, Dr. Joan L. (Bill Lychuk) March of Milford, Ron S. (Renee) March of White Lake, Lynn S. (Tom Bush) March of Ada and Marne L. (Jim) March Olli of Gaylord; and her grandchildren, Madison Bush, Parker Bush, Colin Hale, Karson Lychuk and Reagan Olli.  She was preceded in death by her brother, Lambert “Bud” Werksma and her sister, Wilhelmina “Winnie” Suprunuk.

A memorial service and luncheon will be held at 11:30 AM, Friday, August 26, 2016 at the Michaywe Clubhouse where the family will visit with friends beginning at 11:00 AM.  Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to Hospice of Michigan.
