Shirley S. Clough

Shirley Sophia Clough, 95 of Gaylord and formerly of Grayling, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Medilodge in Gaylord. She was born in West Branch, MI on June 12, 1928, the daughter of Edward and Edna LeDuc (Hayword).

Shirley met her husband, Arthur (Boy) Clough while she was working as a nurse at the Grayling Hospital.  It was love at first sight.  They married and had 4 children. Boy became Sheriff for Crawford County and life changed drastically.  Shirley was now not just a mother of 4 children but a Chief Deputy, Matron of the jail, was certified to provide drivers license and road tests. She did it all! 

She is survived by her 3 daughters, Michelle (Bruce) Feldhauser of Bath, Kathy (Steve) Belcher of Grand Rapids and Cindy (Bill) Wiseman of Gaylord; daughter-in-law, Diane Clough of Grayling; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Natelle Gross and Donna (Sam) Hutchings.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur F. Clough in 2002 and her son, Arthur E. Clough in 2023, Brothers Raymond, Alton, Melvin, Edmond, Sister Madelyn Kennedy.

Funeral services will take place 12:00 PM Friday, May 31st at Gaylord E-Free Church, where the family will visit with friends beginning at 10:00 AM. Pastor Newell Cerak will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Lions Den MBTC, 111 Union St, Roscommon, MI 48653; Otsego County Commission on Aging, P.O. Box 430, Gaylord, MI 49734 or to Gaylord E-Free Church, 1649 M-32, Gaylord, MI 49735.
