Samuel A. Barber, 79 of Elmira, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2016 at McLaren Northern Michigan. Born June 4, 1936 in Logan Township, he was the son of Harrison and Helen Barber.
Sam proudly served his country in the United States Army. He retired from General Motors Company after 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and NASCAR. He was involved in the Lansing Eagles #1039 for many years. Upon retirement, he and his wife, Debra wintered in Portmansfield, TX.
On April 12, 1975 in Gaylord, he married Debra Dipzinski who survives. Also surviving are his children, Kenneth (Brenda) Barber, Robert (Janell) Barber, DeLynn (Mike VanEpten) Reist and Angie (Kurt) Ramsey; grandchildren, Brock (Nichole), Nichole (Josh), Robert (Alicia), Justin (Tracy), Dustin (Tara), Austin (Hailey), Shannon (Manny) and Heidi; great-grandchildren, Chandler, Sunni, Trey, Connor, Dakota, Grayson, Gavin and Gabriela; brothers, Dale (Pauline) Barber, Erwin (Janice) Barber, and Chet (Rose) Barber; sisters, Marjorie Haas, JuneAnn Pataky, Donna (Dave) Robinson and Cathy Keesaer; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother and sister, Harrison Barber Jr., and Betty Sweeny.
