Samantha Ann Gibson

Samantha Ann Gibson, 35 of Gaylord, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Munson Healthcare Otsego Memorial Hospital.

Born in Englewood, CO on January 20, 1983, Samantha is the daughter of Donald and Kathleen (Benson) Day.

The family later moved to Gaylord and Samantha graduated from Gaylord High School in 2001.  In school, Sam excelled in swimming and as a student.  After graduating she went on to Central Michigan University where she graduated with Bachelor’s Degrees in Photo Journalism and Spanish.

Her family will remember her for the loving mom she was to her son, Matthew, her love of cars, photography and making jewelry.  She will be forever missed.

Surviving is her husband, Donald M. Gibson of Gaylord; her son, Matthew David Gibson of Gaylord; her parents, Donald and Kathleen Day of Gaylord; and her maternal grandmother, Janice Benson of Gaylord.  Samantha was preceded in death by her brother, Staff Sgt. David Day, killed in action in Afghanistan in 2011; her maternal grandfather, Pirie Benson and her paternal grandparents, Arthur and Grace Day.

Friends are invited to join the family for a memorial gathering from 5:00-7:00 PM Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service.  Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to the family for Matthew’s upbringing and education.
