Sally Mae Westover

Sally Mae Westover, 79 of Frederic, passed away Friday, February 25, 2022 at McLaren Northern Michigan in Petoskey.  Born in Grand Rapids on December 3, 1942, she was the daughter of Glen and Vivian (Hopkins) Ide.

Together, she and Norman raised two children. For 25 years Sally worked for the Polk County School Board in Florida. Upon retirement they moved to Northern Michigan and quickly became involved at the Gaylord E-Free Church. She enjoyed working with the senior adults, planning trips and social events at church.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Norman; children, Calvin (Sandra) Westover of Frederic and Amy (Bryan) May of Vicksburg; grandchildren, Crystal (Bryan) Schurko, Jacob Haupt, Travis Westover, Alexzandrea Izzard and great granddaughter, Sloane Schurko; her sister, Diane (John) Shoup; her brother, George (Kathy) Ide; sister-in-law, Lois O’Hara and a very special, lifelong friend, Karen Roede; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will take place 11:00 AM Saturday, May 14, 2022 at the Gaylord E-Free Church. In lieu of flowers, those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to the Gaylord E-Free Church (Elder Fund).
