Russell G. Sadler

Russell Sadler, 82 of Opal Lake, Gaylord, a gentle and loving soul has passed from our midst on Tuesday July 28th. If you met Russ, you had a friend for life, and if you were with him, you lived life to the fullest. He has left enough legends and memories to help his friends and family through the void left by his passing.

He is survived by his lovely bride of 64 years Pat; two sons, Dan (Lindsay), and Steve; and his daughter, Dawn (Bob) Fulton. He was “pa pa” to his grandchildren, Ethan (Stacy), Abbie, Amanda, Liz (Al), Hailey, Hillary and Steven; great-grandchildren, Madeline, Ben, and William. They brought him an abundance of joy and the child out in him. He also loved taking walks with them and his ten grand-dogs.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Sue Hunt.

Russ was an avid and excellent golfer who started to shoot his age at 69 and continued to do so until this year. He was also known to embellish a story or two; he claims 4 aces in his golf career, however, only three are documented. Russ cherished his volunteer work throughout his lifetime, especially in the Gaylord area. He spent many hours working with the Opal Lake Association, Food Pantry, RSVP, Otsego Memorial Hospital and the Presbyterian Church of Gaylord. He would always be available to help you with any kind of problem or challenge. His solutions sometimes helped or sometimes challenged but were always given from the heart with love.

A celebration of His Life will take place at 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at the Gaylord First Presbyterian Church, 513 Charles Brink Road. Contributions as a memory for Russ can be made to Munson Hospice, 1105 6th St. Traverse City, MI 48684 or to First Presbyterian Church of Gaylord, 513 Charles Brink Rd, Gaylord, MI 49735. Arrangements are by Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Please share your memories and personal messages with the family at www.gaylordfuneralhome.com
