Rose Marie Koronka

Rose Marie Koronka, 87 of Gaylord, passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Otsego Memorial Hospital.

Born on June 4, 1929 in Detroit, she was the daughter of Joseph and Rose (Wolney) Koscielniak.  She moved to Gaylord with her family as a young child.

On June 23, 1951, Rose Marie married Stanley Koronka at St. Mary Catholic Church in Gaylord.  They had three children, Paul, Loretta and Mike.  Stanley died on July 9, 1963.

In earlier years Rose Marie did custodial work at St. Mary School.  Later she worked in the kitchen as a breakfast cook at Provincial House which became Beverly Manor and is now Tendercare Gaylord.  She also worked at Gaylord Swiss Bakery.

A lifelong parishioner at St. Mary Cathedral, Rose Marie was also a member of the Altar Rosary Society.

As a young widow, Rose Marie dedicated herself to raising her family, which always came first.  She is survived by her children, Paul (Teresa) Koronka, Loretta (John) Swantek and Mike Koronka all of Gaylord; grandchildren, Adam Koronka, Jessica (Brian)Hiner, Michael (Cashena) Swantek, Keri Swantek David Swantek and Brandon DuPont; a great granddaughter, Grace Koronka; sisters, Sr. Loretta Rose SSND of Coolville, OH and Trudy Koscielniak of Gaylord; a brother, Br. Paul Koscielniak OSA of King City, Ontario; a sister–in-law, Arlene Koscielniak of Vanderbilt; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Stanley, she was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Joseph Koscielniak Jr. and a sister, Florence Koscielniak.

Rose Marie’s family will visit with friends from 3:00-8:00 PM on Friday, November25, 2016 at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service where the St. Mary Altar Rosary will recite the Rosary at 6:00 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 26, 2016 at St. Mary Cathedral.  Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery.
