Rose Mary Wood, born on June 30, 1981, passed away on February 25, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, adventure, and unwavering devotion to family.
A free spirit with a heart as vast as the open sky, Rose was fiercely loyal, a protector by nature, and the glue that held her family together. She was a dreamer, a visionary, and a connector. She was a caregiver, a mamma bear, and a guiding force for those she loved.
Rose loved spending time outdoors. Whether camping under the stars, wheeling through rugged northern Michigan landscapes, or dancing at music festivals, she embraced life with an untamed spirit and an infectious joy. Her creativity knew no bounds—she found beauty in the unexpected, crafting unique art that reflected her soul.
Above all, Rose was devoted to her family. She is survived by her beloved son, Justin Castorena, and her foster son, whom she cherished deeply. She leaves behind her mother, Kristina Rasmusson; her sister, Mira Wood Bolaños (Sergio); and her brothers, Billy Sommers and Justin Wood (Lilita). She is also remembered by her life partner, Martin Rea, her nieces and nephews: Auggie, Frances, Carmen, Max, and Zephyr, and furry family members Opie and Alley Cat.
Rose lived with passion, fought for those she loved, and made every space she entered warmer and more alive. Her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A celebration of Rose’s life will be planned at a later date, where friends and family can gather to honor her memory in the way she would have wanted—surrounded by love and laughter.
A private memorial gathering will take place.
