Ronald Wayne Stoner

Ron was born May 20, 1942, in Lansing, Michigan to Don and Nan Stoner. He graduated from Findlay High School in 1960 and then attended Michigan State University. He married his childhood sweetheart, Virginia Elaine Wrasse in 1963. Together they lived in Findlay, Ohio, Lansing, Jackson, Bay City, St. Clair and Higgins Lake, Michigan. During the mid 60’s he served as a regional vice president and general manager for a national vending and food service company. He joined the Michigan State police in 1972 and retired in 1997. During his career as a State Trooper, he was awarded five State Police Citations for acts of bravery. After he retired, he joined the Commemorative Air Force, where for many years he proudly served as a member of the flight crew of the B 17 Flying Fortress. His plane was the Sentimental Journey. His hobbies included scuba diving, boating, flying his hovercraft, military history, and helping his grandchildren catch fish. He was an excellent husband, dad, Papa and great papa to his family. Proceeding him and death are his parents. Surviving Ron are his wife of 60 years, Elaine Stoner; his two daughters, Laura Parker and Lisa Strathmann; his four grandchildren, Weston Strathmann, Joy Cole, Marcus Parker and Corinna Parker; and his five great grandchildren. He was a member of the St. Clair United Methodist Church, and the Good Shepherd, United Methodist Church of Higgins Lake.

The Memorial Service will be at Springport Bible Church in Springport, Michigan on September 21, 2024, at noon with a luncheon to follow.
