Rodney A. Myers, 53 of Petoskey, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, September 12, 2014 with his family and friends by his side. Born on December 18, 1960 in Niles, Rodney was the son of Arnold and Wanda (Beebe) Myers. Raised in the Wolverine area, he was a graduate of Wolverine High School. For several years Rodney worked as smoke jumper with a company in Utah fighting fires in Yellowstone National Park. Later he was an oil rig worker for several years before returning home to Wolverine where he worked in the logging industry. He had worked most of the last 10 years as the third shift supervisor at Lexamar in Boyne City. Rodney loved hunting, fishing, hiking and all other outdoor activities which he spent time doing with family and friends. On November 7, 1992 Rodney married Marilyn M. Hofbauer in Petoskey. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; their two children, Christopher Myers and Mary Myers both of Petoskey; his mother, Wanda Myers of Riverview, FL; a brother, Michael (Cheri) Myers of Allen, TX and sisters, Marie (Eddie) Emery of Riverview, FL and Becky (James) McAnallen of Brandon, FL. He was preceded in death by his father, Arnold. Rodney’s family will remember him with a private family memorial service. The family thanks Hospice of Michigan and their caring, loving and devoted staff. Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to Hospice of Michigan. Arrangements are being handled by Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Gaylord.
