Roderick D. "Rod" Spencer

Roderick D. “Rod” Spencer, 82 of Boyne Falls, passed away on Monday, March 1, 2021 at Mallard Cove Assisted Living in Petoskey.

Born on February 21, 1939 in Boyne City, he was the son of Dale T. and Lorraine E. (Roderick) Spencer.  He grew up in Boyne City and was a 1958 graduate of Boyne City High School.

Rod spent his career building roads throughout the State of Michigan.  When he retired was a grade check foreman.

In his spare time he enjoyed following his two favorite teams; he was a long time suffering fan of the Detroit Lions and an extremely dedicated University of Michigan Fan, the “Victors of the Midwest”.

Surviving are his children, Kelly (Bill) Knieps of Petoskey and Jim (Leafa) Spencer of Boyne Falls; grandchildren, RJ (Melissa) Terrell and Amy Terrell; great-grandchildren, Christian, Brianna and Avery Terrell.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In keeping with his wishes, his family will remember him privately.  Rod will be loved and missed, Go Blue! In lieu of flowers, those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to the Salvation Army.
