Robert J. “Bob” Scott, 93 of Gaylord, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at Aspen Ridge. Born in Detroit on February 14, 1926, Bob was the son of Thomas and Lily (Campbell) Scott.
Bob proudly served his country in the United States Navy where he fought in World War II. For 30 years, Bob worked in Tool and Die at Lyon Tool in Hazel Park and then the Detroit News. In 1983, he moved up to Gaylord where he was the general manager of Acropolis Resort for 30 years. Bob truly was one of a kind. He loved the Lord with all of his heart and soul. He dedicated his life to God and his family. He was an incredible father and grandfather (Papa).
He is survived by three sons, Dan (Susan) Scott of Goodrich, Tom Scott of Hazel Park and Pat (Carol) Scott of Gaylord; very special grandchildren, Suzanne, Rebecca (Brett), Joshua (Samantha), Jeremy, Jonathan (Fiancée Mariah); great-grandson, Emmet; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joan in 1983; his granddaughter, Elisabeth in 1997; a brother, Tom Scott and a sister, Mae Bourque.
Visitation will take place from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, June 17, 2019 at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Funeral services will take place 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at Gaylord E-Free Church where the family will visit with friends from 10:00 AM until the time of services. Pastor Jim Mathis and Pastor Scott Distler will officiate. Full military honors will follow. Burial will take place at White Chapel in Troy where he will be interred with his wife at 1:00 PM Wednesday, June 19, 2019; the Rev. Charles A. Ohman will officiate. Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to Gaylord E-Free Church, the Elder Fund.
