Robert Jack Counterman Sr.

Robert Jack Counterman Sr, 92 of Gaylord, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Medilodge of Gaylord.

Born on May 20, 1927 in Flint, MI, he was the son of Floyd and Hazel (McQuery) Counterman.

Robert served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.  After returning home, he worked for 25 years as a mechanic at Dow Chemical and later in the oil industry.

An avid hunter and woodworker, Robert also enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret and a son, Robert J. Counterman Jr.  Surviving are his children, Penny Gilman, Floyd Counterman, Donald (Theresa) Counterman and Dorothy Fair; 11 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; and a sister, Barb (Dale) Boyce.

A private family memorial service with military honors will be held.  Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to Compassus Hospice or Gaylord VFW Post #1518.
