Robert E. Howe, 79 of Gaylord, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Otsego Memorial Hospital.
Born in Charlevoix on May 25, 1937, Bob was the son of Wilson and June (Cooper) Howe.
Bob served honorably in the United State Army and Navy. He had been a long time Gaylord resident and worked for many years at Cooper Standard.
Known around Gaylord as “the birdman,” Bob was a talented craftsman who enjoyed making and selling birdhouses. Also an artist, he enjoyed doing pen and ink drawings. Bob was also a singer and musician who played for years in area polka bands. He will be remembered for the years he played during Alpenfest at Schlangs Bavarian Inn.
Bob is survived by a sister, Denise Allor of Gaylord; a brother, Charles (Carol) Howe of Lake Forest, IL; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by a sister, Ruth Ann Allen.
