Robert C. Ford

Our Husband, Dad, Grandpa and Great Grandpa Robert Charles Ford passed away peacefully, quietly and in God’s perfect timing, July 31st, 2016.  He was compassionate, a man of his word, guided without judgment and was devoted to his family.

Cremation has taken place and his life will be remembered and celebrated during a memorial service that will be led by his Pastor Jeffrey Ellis, Friday, August 5, 2016 at 11:00am at Walloon Lake Community Church.  Friends are welcome to visit with the family beginning at 10:00am the day of the memorial.

He was born July 1, 1927 in Petoskey, MI to George and Gladys (Allerding) Ford where he grew up.  Robert served in the US Army from 1945 – 1947.  On August 28, 1948 he married Beverly Herr and they would have celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary this month.  They made their home in Petoskey and raised their four daughters there.

In 1947 he began his employment at Hankey Lumber Company, Petoskey retiring after 48 years in l995.

Robert was a member of the Walloon Lake Community Church where he enjoyed attending with his family.  He enjoyed hunting, outdoor activities, traveling and in recent years he spent countless hours in his garden.

Surviving Robert is his wife Beverly of 67 years, his four daughters, Deborah (Paul) Theriault, Shelley (George) Horniman, Diana Souza and Robin (Edward) Goldsmith; sisters Mrs. Richard (Marjorie) Plough and Mrs. Elmer (Eleanor) Frazier; seven Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents and  brother, James.
