Robert "Duane" Phipps

Robert “Duane” Phipps, 74 of Elmira, passed away Friday, May 1, 2015 at home surrounded by his family. Born in Riverside, California on December 20, 1940, Duane was the son of Albert and Mary (Morgan) Phipps.

Duane loved riding his motorcycle, especially with his brother, Ox. Together, they checked off on their bucket list to ride to Laconia, NH. Duane enjoyed telling stories, playing music and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Harley Crue M/C in Frederick.

On June 14, 2008 at the Grayling City Park, he married Kelly Malo. Also surviving are his children, Joel Phipps of Long Beach, CA and Julia Sexton of Chico, CA; step-daughters, Kate Holness of Elmira, Rachael Kilbourn of Portland, OR, and Becca (Sean) Murphy of TN; grandchildren, E.J. Holness and Madeline Murphy; sister, Dolores McGuire of Huntington Beach, CA; and brother, Terry “Ox” (Penny) Phipps of Grayling.

He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Jayne.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
