Robert “Bud” McFalda, 90 of Gaylord, died at home on his 90th birthday, Tuesday, October 21, 2014. Born on October 21, 1924 in Alpena, Bud was the son of John and Gertrude (Wysocki) McFalda. He was a World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Navy. Bud worked as well driller with Reynolds Well Drilling in Alpena. He moved from Alpena to Elmira in 1979 and later to Gaylord. He worked at both Polus and Burdo potato farms and at Champion/U.S. Plywood. Bud was a member of the International Association of Woodworkers, the Michigan Well Drillers Association and the machinists union, IAMAW local W166. Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha and sisters, Delores, Delphine and Emmajean. Surviving are his son, Jere (Nikki) McFalda of Gaylord; grandchildren, Ashley Ochoa and Ryan Venable; a great granddaughter, Kaydence Ochoa and many nieces and nephews. Bud’s family will remember him with a private family gathering. In lieu of flowers, those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to Guide Dogs of America or to the family for contributions to those who have helped provide for his care. Arrangements are by Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 850 North Center Avenue.
