Richard M. Oldenburg

Richard M. Oldenburg, 66 of Frederic, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at home. Born on May 23, 1950 in Detroit, he was the son of Clarke and Jean Oldenburg.

In 1968, Richard graduated from Detroit Cathedral High School.  He also attended Oakland Community College where he received an Associates Degree in Business Administration.  Upon graduation, he was drafted in the U.S. Army and proudly served our country from 1973 to 1975. For several years, he worked at U of M in support services. In his later years, he moved to Frederic and enjoyed the Guthrie Lakes community. He enjoyed reading, politics and debating.

He is survived by his son, Jacob “Jake” of Roscommon; his brothers, Thomas Oldenburg of Gilbert SC., and John (Grace Hutchinson) Oldenburg of Wake Forest, NC; his sister, Mary (Dave) Shereda of Farmington Hills and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Robert.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service where visitation will begin at 12:00 PM until the time of services.
