Richard Wojtkowiak, 96 of Gaylord, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at August Haus. Born April 8, 1928, in Gaylord, the son of Casimir and Mary (Piasecki) Wojtkowiak.
On August 27, 1955, at St. Mary Cathedral, Richard married the love of his life, Marie. They had three children and created a beautiful life together. For many years, Richard worked at Wicks Lumber and was the Livingston Township Clerk and later on became the Livingston Township Supervisor. He was an active parishioner at St. Mary Cathedral where he ushered for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Marie; three children, Casimer (Sharon) Wojtkowiak of Gaylord, Kenneth Wojtkowiak of Johannesburg and Karen (Robert) Westphal of Gaylord; five grandchildren, Jill, Emily, Beth-Ann, Nicholas and Kaitlyn; six great-grandchildren, Lance, Dane, Rita-Marie, Blaise, Margaret and Ambrose; his brother, Thomas Wojtkowiak; his sisters, Agnes Wojtkowiak, Rita Butka, Bernadine (Fred) Kilcline and Janie (Michael) Flynn and sister-in-law, Barbara Wojtkowiak.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Casimier and Mary Wojtkowiak; his granddaughter, Amy Peters; his brothers, Ralph Wojtkowiak and Donald Wojtkowiak; his sister, Patricia Cherry; brothers-in-law, Richard Butka and Pete Cherry; sisters-in-law, Susan Wojtkowiak and Katie Wojtkowiak.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 AM Monday, December 23, 2024, at St. Mary Cathedral, where the family will visit with friends beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will take place in the spring at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Otsego County Food Pantry or to August Haus Assisted Living.
