Richard L. “Dick” Williams, 89 of Gaylord, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey with his loving wife by his side. Born in Bald Prairie, TX on October 8, 1926, he was the son of George and Ollie (Browning) Williams.
Dick is survived by Sue, his wife of 46 years; his sons, Mark (Sandra) Williams of Emmet and Paul (Molly) Williams of Caledonia; and his two grandsons, Steven and Braxton Williams.
Dick proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. For the majority of his career, he was a welder/ pipefitter for construction at both the Monroe Coal Burner Power Plant and the Fermi Nuclear Plant in Michigan. Dick enjoyed sports and played minor league baseball. He also enjoyed bowling and playing golf. He was a pilot in the Navy and owned his own plane. He loved the outdoors especially, fishing, hunting, horse and dog breeding and field dog training.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Nancy Williams and his siblings, Marvin, Juanita and Robert.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:30 AM on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at St. Mary Cathedral, 606 North Ohio Street. Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to Sue Williams, through the funeral home, P.O. Box 249, Gaylord, MI 49734
