Rebecca L. "Becky" Shafer

Rebecca Lynn “Becky” Shafer, 52 of Gaylord, passed away at home on Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Born in Gaylord on February 13, 1963, Becky was the daughter of Dennis Lancaster and Charlotte Edwards.

She was a 1981 graduate of Gaylord High School. A resident of Gaylord for most of her life, Becky had also lived in Denver, CO, Traverse City, East Jordan and Kalkaska.

She worked in Gaylord at K-Byte and while living in Traverse City she worked as a taxi cab driver. Becky was an animal lover and she enjoyed craftwork including crocheting and jewelry making.

She is survived by her beloved animals, her dog, Buddy and her cat, Noelle; a daughter, Jenny (Dewey) Hart of Central Lake; grandchildren, Henry and Grace Hart; brother, Ernest (Devonna) Lancaster of Vanderbilt; sisters, Heather (Jim) Finley of Gaylord and Crystal (Mike) Finley of Cleveland, GA; several nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles; and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Becky’s family will remember her with a memorial gathering to be held later. Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to the Otsego County Animal Shelter.
