Raymond Joseph Vandenberg

Raymond J. Vandenberg, 76 of Gaylord, passed away Monday, August 17, 2020 at Mission Point in Roscommon. Born in Chicago, IL on June 7, 1944, he was the son of Joseph and Ann (Ziegler) Vandenberg.

For 30 years, Raymond worked for Bendix then became Allied Signal and finally Bosch in St. Joe, MI where he retired in 1999. After moving to Gaylord, he worked at Save-A-Lot for 13 years and then retired again. He was an avid runner, and proudly competed in the Chicago Marathon and many other races. He was an avid long distance bicyclist and enjoyed racing in bike races. He lived in Stevensville for many years. He loved animals, 50’s and 60’s music, watching the Chicago White Sox and Bears and his Tuesday morning Biggby coffee groups. Most of all, his pride and joy was his wife of 50 years, his daughters and granddaughter. He will be greatly missed.

On February 14, 1970 in St. Joseph, MI, he married the love of his life, Jo Ann Lawrick who survives. Also surviving are his two daughters, Sarah (Michael) Enos of Gaylord and Patricia Vandenberg of Holland; his special granddaughter, Jo Anna Enos.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Helen Mae Wood.
