Raymond Arthur Rivers, 44 of Gaylord, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at home.
Born in Grayling, Michigan on November 17, 1977, Ray is the son of Raymond J. and Kathryn (Hanson) Rivers. Ray grew up in Gaylord where he was a graduate of Gaylord High School.
He enjoyed his work in the oil fields of Michigan, Wyoming and the Dakotas for several years; and recently he had gone to work at FedEx Ground in Gaylord.
In his spare time he loved riding motorcycles and 4-wheeling, camping, fishing and Saturday breakfast with the guys at Mill Street in Vanderbilt. He always enjoyed any opportunity to spend time with his family.
Ray is survived by his wife, Amanda; they were married in Vanderbilt on August 22, 2020. Also surviving are his parents, Ray and Kathy Rivers of Gaylord; his sister and brother-in-law, Stacy and Dave Klein of Brighton; his father and mother-in-law, Rick and Rhonda Berdan of Vanderbilt; brothers and sisters-in-law, Brian Thorpe of Gaylord, Jenn and Jason Cherwinski of Gaylord; and Erick and Brooke Thorpe of Gaylord; nieces, Alex, Jackie, and Georgie Klein of Brighton and Kelci and Halei Cherwinski of Gaylord; a nephew, Parker Cherwinski of Gaylord; daughters, Astrea Rivers of Fenton and Amaya Schettek of Muskegon; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 23, 2022 at St. Mary Cathedral in Gaylord, where visitation with the family will begin at 10:30 AM. A luncheon will immediately follow at the Corwith Township Hall, 8170 Mill St, Vanderbilt, MI 49795. Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contribution in Ray’s memory to Catholic Human Services.
