Raymond H. “Ray” Barker, 68 of Gaylord, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2024, at Munson Otsego Memorial Hospital.

Born in Adrian, Michigan, Ray was the son of Harold and Eunice (Irwin) Barker.  In 1972 the family moved to Frederic.  Ray graduated from Grayling High School in 1974 and he moved to Gaylord.

Ray worked at Big Boy restaurant, Heartland Distributors and Treetops in Gaylord.  In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling and frequent visits to Bob Evans.  He was also a former member of the Gaylord Lions Club.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Eunice; and brothers, Stephen, and Douglas.  Surviving are brothers, Keith Barker of Reidsville, NC, Randy Barker of Gaylord, and Jeffrey (Cate) Barker of Gaylord; a sister, Linda (Robert) Deck of Hudson; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Popeye.

Ray’s family will visit with friends from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM Thursday, January 18, 204 at Gaylord Community Funeral Home and Cremation Service where funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM.  Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to the Otsego County Animal Shelter.
