Randy G. Burd

Randy Gene Burd, 64 of Vanderbilt, passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.

Randy Gene was born on July 23, 1960, to Carolyn Jean (Sims) and Richard Dale Burd Sr. in West Branch, MI. Together they raised three children. Randy graduated from Gaylord High School.

Randy worked at Lanzen Fabricating in Mancelona and married the love of his life, Maria (Pataky) on February 5, 2009. He moved to Vanderbilt in 2014. Family was everything to Randy. He never missed a family reunion and had an intense love for his daughters and grandchildren. Living up north, made his hobbies of fishing and hunting easy. NASCAR was his favorite sport with Dale Earnhardt as his driver, along with spending time at old engine shows. Randy was often found grilling out with his family, but his favorite pastime was shopping garage sales. 

Randy is survived by his four daughters, Bobbie Jo Meadows of Mancelona, Amber Burd of Bellaire, Hope Burd of North Dakota and Randi Jean Burd of Gaylord; his mother, Carolyn North of Gaylord; his brother, Rick (Cindy) Burd of Gaylord; nine grandchildren, Nicholas (Kayla), Samantha (Dylan), Clayton, Destiny, Josh, Madison, Conner, Owen, Lucas; one great grandchild, Ryder and one on the way.

Randy was preceded in death by his wife, Maria; father, Richard Burd; daughter, Carmen Long; and sister, Debbie Wheeler.

A memorial service will take place 12:00 PM Monday, September 30, 2024, at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service where the family will visit with friends beginning at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
