After Bill retired in 1981, they lived in Washington and Colorado before moving home to Wolverine in 1997. Over the years, Rachel worked as a nurse aide in several locations, and also at IBM in Boulder, Colorado.

During their retirement years together, they enjoyed traveling to Pensacola, FL, Moncks Corner, SC, and Brunswick, GA.

In her spare time, she enjoyed family gatherings, playing Yahtzee and other games, and doing crossword puzzles.
