Phyllis Ann Lothschutz, 74 of Elmira, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2015 at Otsego Memorial Hospital. Born on the family farm in Elmira on January 31, 1941, Phyllis was the daughter of Peter and Julia (Schopieroy) Osga.
She was a graduate of Gaylord High School and a lifelong area resident. Phyllis enjoyed spending the last several winters at her daughter Sherry’s home in Grand Ledge. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them, including gatherings at “the barn”. Phyllis loved being a grandma. She spent many hours playing Old Maid, Trouble and Cribbage among many others. She also enjoyed working around her yard and garden as well as visits to area casinos. Her family will remember her positive outlook, her happy disposition and her love of laughter. Phyllis attended St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Elmira, St. Mary Cathedral in Gaylord and St. Michael Catholic Church in Grand Ledge.
She is survived by her children, Sherry Lothschutz, Michael (Amy) Lothschutz, Darlene (Eric) Lothschutz-Hafner and Amy (Patrick) Joslin all of Grand Ledge; her grandchildren, Julia (Keith) Kuchek-Przybyla, Jacob Przybyla, J. P. Lothschutz, Kylie Lothschutz, Karah Lothschutz, McKenna Lothschutz, Ava Joslin, Isaac Hafner and Adam Hafner. Also surviving are sisters, Bertha Skeba of Lake Leelanau, Mary (Derald) Reynolds of Elmira, and Pat Heaton of Elmira; brothers, Ray Osga of Tennessee, Jim (Mary Ruth) Osga of Frederic, Don (Carol) Osga of Dewitt, Ed (Ada) Osga of Elmira and Floyd (Pat) Osga of Cadillac. In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy Brooks, Alice Duczkowski, Clara Pethers and Sophia Kwapis Maschke and a brother, Tom Osga.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 PM on Monday, May 4, 2015 at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service where a parish rosary will be offered at 6:00 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at St. Mary Cathedral, 606 North Ohio Street. Visitation will begin at the church on Tuesday at 10:00 AM. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery in Elmira.
