Philip Lee Walter, age 83,passed away on October 28, 2023 at his home in Alba, Michigan.
He was born on April 4, 1940 in Lansing, Michigan to William “Bill” and Ervadene (Seaman) Walter.
He is survived by his children Julie (Robert) Alfaro, Lynette (Craig) Hawkins, and Lisa (Todd) Fisher all of Michigan, seven grandchildren Lacey Suniga, Michael (Colette) Hawkins, Sara Hawkins, Jessica (Abel) Alvarez, Jennie (Neil) Brackstone, Samantha Busse and Corey Busse, Nine great grandchildren, Teagan, Blakely, Victoria, Miranda, Vivian, Devin, Sylvia, Ryan and Dylan, and two great, great grandchildren Ryder and Stella. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years Barbara (Serrels) Walter.
After service in the United States Navy, Phil resumed his career as an auto mechanic, retiring from Crippen Auto in 2005.
Phil loved to hunt, teaching his grandchildren the skills to survive the wilderness. He and his wife Barbara spent hours on the lakes fishing, playing cards and spending valuable time with each and every grandchild. His gift of gab was uncanny, telling his best stories to anyone that would listen, and they all did. He was a devoted father, grandfather, great grandfather and great, great grandfather and will be sorely missed by all.
Celebration of Life “Party” at his request will be held Dec.2nd from 3-7 at Prairie Creek Banquet Center, 800 Webb Rd DeWitt, Michigan and one at the Star Township Hall, Alba, Mi on November 21st from 4-7.
Contributions can be made in his name to the Star Township Fire Department, in Alba.
