Philip W. Sucharski, 61 of Gaylord, died at home on Monday, January 6, 2014. Born in Alpena on October 10, 1952, Phil was the son of Walter and Dolores (Panowicz) Sucharski. Phil will be remembered by many as a self employed house painter in Alpena. For the last 15 years he has worked in inventory control at Wal-Mart in Gaylord. Phil enjoyed his work at Wal-Mart and those he worked with. His greatest joy was his family, though he also enjoyed woodworking and crossword puzzles. Surviving is his wife, Penny, whom he married on March 22, 2003; his daughter, Bridget; step children, Ryan Cramer of Manistee, Kristine (Fred) Peterson of Marion, Katrina (Thomas) Huston of Makoti, ND and Colleen Woodard of Gaylord; grandchildren, Zachary, Alexander, MacKenzie, Isabella, Zorin, Clara, Haley, Isiah and Preash. Also surviving are sisters, Ann Sucharski, Catherine (Mark) Hunault and Cathleen (Steven) Idalski all of Alpena, a brother, Roger Sucharski of Alexandria, VA and several nieces and nephews. Phil was preceded in death by a brother, James in 1956; his father, Walter in 1965 and his mother, Dolores in 1993. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Peace Lutheran Church, 3703 Old 27 South with Pastor Thomas Mammoser officiating. Visitation will begin at the church on Thursday at 10:00 AM. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the family. Arrangements are by Gaylord Community Funeral Home, 850 North Center Avenue.
