Philip L. Jose

Philip L. Jose, 67 of Gaylord, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Otsego Memorial Hospital. Born in Bay City on March 2, 1948, Phil was the son of Chester L. and Frances J. (Tulloch) Jose. Phil grew up in Midland and graduated from Midland High School in 1966.

While attending a church gathering in Grayling, Phil met Ruth J. Papenfus. They were married at Calvary Baptist Church in Grayling in December 23, 1967. Phil and Ruth lived in Longview, TX while Phil was attending LeTourneau University and also in New York and West Virginia before returning to Grayling. In 1971 they moved to Gaylord.

For the last 16 years Phil worked with Ruth in their adult foster care home, Rocking Chair Home Care. Phil loved his family and he enjoyed family gatherings, especially time spent with them around a campfire. He was an avid reader and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Gaylord.

Phil is survived by Ruth, his wife of over 47 years; his sons, Thomas L. Jose of San Antonio, TX, Timothy S. Jose of Gaylord, Terrence P. (Nancy) Jose of Berlin, PA and Theodore J. (Kendrea) Jose of Vanderbilt; grandchildren, Cody, Cory, Jordan, Kialee and Miyah Jose; brothers, Dennis (Becky) Jose of New Carlisle, IN, David (Cheryl) Jose of Gaylord and Chester (Donnalee) Jose of Auburn, MI as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, April 24, 2015 at Calvary Baptist Church, 225 S. Wisconsin St. in Gaylord where the family will visit with friends beginning at 1:00 PM. Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to the family.
