Paul Victor Mattieson

Paul Victor Mattieson, 77 of Gaylord and formerly of Dearborn, passed away at home in Gaylord on Thursday, February 3, 2022. 

 Born on November 20, 1944 in Detroit, he was the son of Paul and Mary (Ciesla) Mattieson.  He married Linda Denise White in Dearborn on October 26, 1963.

A longtime resident of Dearborn, Paul worked in auto sales before opening Universal Detroit Tool & Die.  He continued to work seven days a week in his business until recently due to his failing health.  In 2021, Paul and Linda moved to Gaylord to their Otsego Lake home, originally owned by her parents.

 Paul is survived by Linda, his wife of 58 years; his children, Paula (Dale) Cook of Brownstown Township, Mark (Patty) Mattieson of Bokeelia, FL and Stephen (Julie) Mattieson of Boyd, WI; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a brother, Jack (Georgi) Mattieson of Dearborn Heights; and several nieces and nephews.

 He was preceded in death by a son, Scott Mattieson; his parents; and his twin sister, Patricia Mattieson.

 A memorial service downstate will be held in the spring.  Arrangements are pending and will be announced later.
