Patricia Ann Sweet

Patricia Ann Sweet, 80 of Boyne City, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Hiland Cottage in Petoskey.

Born in Detroit on October 10, 1937, Patricia was the daughter of Roland and Doris (Orlando) Eschedor.

Pat spent her early years in Berea, OH before the family moved to East Jordan when she was a junior in high school.  It was there that she met her classmate Jerry Sweet, who became the love of her life.  They graduated from East Jordan High School in June of 1956 and were married on November 24, 1956.

Pat and Jerry lived in Midland for a few years after their marriage and also lived in Mt. Clemens. They moved to Mancelona in the early 1960’s and later back to East Jordan.

Pat and Jerry owned Yesterday’s Treasures Antiques in East Jordan for many years.  Pat also became a real estate agent and broker.  She was the owner of Charlevoix Properties in East Jordan.  For many years she was also a lecturer for Weight Watchers.  Pat became involved in local government in East Jordan, serving on city council and serving as East Jordan’s mayor.

She was an animal lover who loved dogs and chipmunks.  She loved nature and she was especially protective of the unnecessary cutting of trees.

In the early 1990’s they began spending summers in the Upper Peninsula at Little Lake Harbor on Lake Superior and winters in Key Largo, Florida.  In 2016 they moved to Boyne City to be near their family.

Pat is survived by Jerry, her husband of 61 years; her children, Brad (Sue) Sweet of East Jordan and Diane (Chad) Breithaupt of Boyne City; 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren and her beloved chocolate lab, Zoey.  In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by a son, Brian Keith Sweet in 2001 and her beloved Tannin, also a chocolate lab.

Pat’s family has chosen to remember her privately.  Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to the Charlevoix County Humane Society.

Arrangements are by Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service.  Please share your memories and personal messages with the family at www.gaylordfuneralhome.com
