Patricia Ann Fortney

Patricia Ann Fortney, 86 of Gaylord and formerly of Walled Lake, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2022, at home at The Porches in Gaylord. 

Born July 23, 1935, in Detroit, Michigan, she was the daughter of Walter and Howardine (Shell) Dabick.  

On May 21, 1955, Patricia married Paul E. Fortney in Detroit. They lived in the Detroit area for many years, raising their family there. Later, they lived in Las Vegas for 14 years. Recently, Patricia moved to Gaylord to be near her daughter, Judy.  

Patricia worked in retail, as a school aide, and as a coin supply and distrubuter supervisor in Las Vegas at Anchor Coin. 

She loved bowling, taking cruises, and watching old movies and sports on TV, tennis was her favorite. She enjoyed discussing sports and attending all the kids sporting events, and any opportunity to spend time with her family. 

Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, on May 6, 2013. Surviving are her children, Judy (Ron Sr.) Race of Gaylord and Steven (Cathy) Fortney of West Bloomfield; grandchildren, Stacey Baker of Manistee, Ron Jr. (Tiffany) Race of Gaylord, and Lance (TaylorMarie) Fortney of Jacksonville, FL; great grandchildren, Taylor Race, Ryan Race and Aaiden Race all of Gaylord; and sisters, Stephanie (Paul) Holstein of Howell and Shelly (Frank) Sollars of Bloomfield Hills and their families.   

A memorial service and celebration will be held at 5:00 PM Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Tanglewood Golf Course, 22805 Country Club Drive, South Lyon, MI  48178. The family will visit with friends beginning at 4:00 PM and dinner will follow the memorial service. Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to Compassus Hospice, P.O. While I never got a chance to meet Patricia, I can see that her life events and hobbies were passed on to Steve.

Time in Vegas equals Steve’s love for that town, Patricia’s love of bowling and cruising also equals Steve’s love for those too.
