Pamela A. Courtright, 50 of Gaylord, passed away at home surrounded by the love of her family on Monday, February 24, 2014. Born on October 30, 1963 in Alpena, Pamela was the daughter of Duane and Sharon (Werda) Anderson. She was a 1981 graduate of Alpena High School and went on to receive both Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Central Michigan University. She was a social worker and worked for Catholic Human Services, the PEP Program at Gaylord Community Schools, Eagle Village, Specialized Alternatives for Youths, Child and Family Services and Hospice of Alpena. An active member of Gaylord First United Methodist Church, Pamela loved the Lord; she not only spoke often about her faith, but lived it every day. She will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her love of life, family and friends. A lover of animals, she enjoyed the family dogs, their horses and all the other “critters” whose lives were made better thanks to her care and compassion. She enjoyed every moment with her family, including camping trips, going to the lake, visits to Florida, flea markets and auctions. With a love of music, Pamela played the clarinet, bass clarinet and piano. She enjoyed quilting, collecting Coca Cola memorabilia and stir sticks and she was also an avid Detroit Red Wings fan. On July 3, 1993, Pamela married Duane L. Courtright at the Gaylord First United Methodist Church. She is survived by Duane and their three daughters; Regina “Ginny”, Valerie Claire and Caralee Johan Courtright all of Gaylord; her parents, Duane and Sharon Anderson of Alpena; her brother and sister-in-law Duane E. and Jill Anderson of Columbus, OH; and their children, Gretchen, Grace, Winston and Gwyneth Anderson. Pamela is also survived by Duane’s parents, Gary and Dorothy Courtright of Waters; his sister and brother-in-law, Tina and Dale Rodgers of Gaylord, and their children, Rebecca and Danielle Rodgers. Memorial services for Pamela will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the Gaylord Evangelical Free Church, 1649 East M-32 with Rev. John Naile from Gaylord First United Methodist Church officiating. Her family will visit with friends at the church on Friday, February 28, 2014 from 5-8 PM. It was Pamela’s desire that in lieu of flowers, friends consider memorial donations to her daughter’s education and payable to Duane Courtright. It was also her wish that those who are able wear red or Red Wings attire to her memorial service. Arrangements are by Gaylord Community Funeral Home, 850 North Center Ave, P.O. Box 249, Gaylord, MI 49734. Please share your memories or personal messages with the family at
