Nicholas Scott Romano

UPDATED SERVICE INFORMATION

Nicholas Scott Romano, 41 of Elmira, was taken too soon to be with the Lord in a tragic accident on Monday, April 27, 2020.  Nick was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan to Roger and Michaline (Schwartz) Romano.  He grew up in Canton and Royal Oak.

Nick and Katie met in the summer of 1999 in Macomb, Michigan and on May 22, 2004, Nicholas Romano married the love of his life, Katherine J. Willhite.  They lived with their three children Jacob (11), Brennan (9) and Julianna (7) in Macomb until 2013 when they moved their family north to Elmira.  In 2018, they added to their family when Katie’s nephew, David, moved in with them.

Nick was hard working and adventurous.  He owned and operated his own business - Romano’s Brick Cleaning & Caulking - which provided brick and block cleaning services to contractors and clientele throughout the Midwest for the past 20 years.  Nick loved anything outdoors from camping, hiking, spending time at the great lakes with his wife and children, as well as riding ATV’s and snowmobiles.  Nick enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all his greatest joy was spending time with his family.  Nick loved to sit around a fire at night with his family and friends reminiscing and telling stories.

Nicholas was preceded in death by his mother, Michaline Moore in 2016 and older brother, Colen T. Romano in 2000.  He is survived by his wife Katie, his three children - Jake, Brennan and Julianna, his nephew David, his parents Roger and Brenda Romano of San Antonio, TX; his brother, Anthony Romano of Ann Arbor and sister Rachael with her husband Jeffrey Cluff of San Antonio, TX.

A private family service will be held followed by a public memorial service as soon as current gathering restrictions allow.  Interment will be at Otsego Lake Township Cemetery at a date and time to be determined.

Those who wish to provide assistance are asked to consider memorial contributions for Nick to his wife and children.  Donations can be made payable to Katherine Romano through Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service, P.O. Box 249, Gaylord, MI  49734.
